Cenikor is a long-term, residential therapeutic community that helps people end the cycle of substance abuse. A group of Colorado prisoners wanting to change the direction of their lives started Cenikor in 1967. Cenikor gives individuals a way to create an addiction-free future and regain their self worth. Cenikor works for those who are truly serious about changing their lives. The recovery program lasts 18-24 months. Ninety percent of those who graduate from the program each year remain clean and sober. Clients receive substance abuse therapy, housing, medical care, educational opportunities, everything needed to prepare them for a successful recovery. Cenikor operates three in-patient facilities and a behind-the-walls prison program, serving a total of over 600 clients each day in Texas and Louisiana.
