For every pair of GROOBS you buy, we will give a new pair of GROOBS to someone in need.............and we're just getting started. In addition to sending a new pair of shoes to a needy individual, you will also get to pick a charity of YOUR CHOICE to send 50% of the proceeds to your chosen charity. For short and to change the meaning of BOGO, we call it “BOGO FIVE O” – Buy One Give One AND 50% of the proceeds will be sent to a charity of YOUR choosing! You pick the charity that you are passionate about.
People may ask “Why don’t I skip the shoes and donate directly to a charity?” We say “Do it.” Make a difference in someone’s life. Volunteer, give money but why not get your GROOB ON and make an impact in a person’s life? Others might say "I'm just an average Joe,Tom or Jane, how does simply purchasing pair of GROOBS make such a huge difference?" As we mentioned above, buying a pair of GROOBS is also giving a new pair of shoes to someone who is homeless in your city and may not own a pair of shoes or a child that has never worn a pair of shoes in their life and has an enormous chance of contracting intestinal worms by not wearing a simple pair of shoes. Also, you may be driven to do something about hunger in Houston, Texas. When you checkout you could choose the Houston Food Bank and feed at least five people for a day (YES A DAY) simply by purchasing a pair of GROOBS. HOW THE GROOBS NATION WAS BORN
I, Jason Fry, and my wife were in church - December 2009. I was sitting and thinking to myself "Wow!!! I can hear the thunder but I just hope I don't see the lighting".........Just kidding...............not really. Anyhoo...........December is the month when the church has their annual giving drive to help those in need on a local, national and international level. Seeing a picture of an impoverished child behind the speaker hit me hard. I told my wife after the service (because she gets mad at me when I try and talk to her in the service), there is so much need in this world it's overwhelming. The thought is paralyzing. Need is around every corner and in every country. I told her I have to do something. I said “Why don't I create a shoe company (yes I love shoes) with every pair of shoes we sell, part of the proceeds are donated to a charity of the consumers choosing AND we give new shoes to someone who desperately needs a pair whether they live in Uganda or Houston, Texas." Need has no boundaries.
So what is this 50% of proceeds talk? How much is that really? In an effort not to waste your time with "Business Man Talk" and for us to be on the same page.......depending on the style of shoe, shipping cost etc, 50% of the proceeds equates to $6 - $9 per pair sold being sent to your charity. We will keep you posted constantly on the amount of money going to the charities per pair sold and overall.
Finally, why shoes? Shoes are a necessity for everyone and collectively as one huge consumer we can make a profound impact in this world we all share. Whether you are passionate about cancer, autism, hunger, poverty and so forth……………..we are all “on fire” about something. You choose your passion!!! With that, GROOBS was born.
